Dear friends, In my journey of life so far I've come across many many people who keep talking endlessly about doing service. But the sad story is that they seldom do anything commendable other than mere lip service.

This tendency of people made me think seriously about that one aspect called "Service". Here i've made an attempt to explain about service in very clear terms and simple language. The best part of my research into service lies in the fact that I realised that ebiz actually does service in a complete form. I'll definitely make it clear to you about it. To understand anything its very important to learn in a systematic way. Therefore I'll take you through this education on service in a very systematic and precise way as well.

Definition of service: "Service is any activity that is done in the good interests of others or the society under the purview of the law and without expecting to get anything in return."

Service is a very broad term. For the ease of understanding I've classified service into 5 major planes. If you observe you'll surely agree with me that these 5 planes are the different layers of a civilised society. Now I'll just list the different planes of service. 1: Physical. 2: Emotional. 3: Mental/intellectual. 4: Social. 5: Spiritual. Now I'll elaborate on each of these aspects only to an extent of giving a basic understanding for you. Physical plane of service.: This is a kind of service which many of us are familiar with. Here a person in need is helped monetarily to overcome the crisis that he has. This again has two types: a) Help to satisfy the need. ex: Feeding a hungry man, giving money to people in need of it etc b) Helping at that moment to overcome the immediate crisis and teaching/guiding him to become self dependent. ex. Feeding a hungry man to satisfy his hunger and teaching him to earn his own living, destitute self help groups etc.. 2: Emotional plane of service. One major thing that is being discussed regarding human development nowadays is regarding emotional quotient/EQ. EQ is actually more important than IQ to lead a happy and a peaceful life. But the stressful life in todays hypercompetitive world has made individuals emotionally very unstable. To serve in this level we'll have to be trained and should have a higher EQ so that we can make a difference in the lives of others. This is actually a higher form of service. 3: Service at mental/intellectual plane: Here we develop the right attitude towards life,the circumstances and situations, developing skills to tackle and overcome any problem rationally and logically without even being affected by the problem, develop knowledge about life and how to live life to the fullest, making people realise that happiness can be constant irrespective of our outer surroundings and all those which make an individual stronger and stronger day by day. This is very challenging because its difficult as well as immensely satisfying to work on the attitudes of people. This needs thorough training before we get into doing service in this aspect. 4:Service at the social plane: Activities that actually are oriented towards solving the problems prevalent in our surroundings / society comes under this category of service. ex. Working for reduction in pollution levels, working on sanitation and public health etc. This level of training also requires training to make it useful. 5: Service at the spiritual plane: This is the highest form of service wherein you guide people to get liberated from this world and become one with the God. This requires one to be leading a chaste and disciplined life to be at this plane. Not everybody can do. so I'll not discuss much on this aspect. I can go on for hours and hundreds of pages can be written on this aspect of service alone. But I would restrict the information to this level which is comprehendible for most of the population.
